Hodgepodge “Paints it Pink” for Breast Cancer Awareness

Clarksville, TN – Paige Thomas King, owner of Hodgepodge, Where You Gather Your Home, is pleased to announce “Paint it Pink,” in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Paint it Pink is an effort to raise funds for the Clarksville Area YMCA’s ABC (After Breast Cancer) program.

For the month October, Hodgepodge will have a display window dedicated to Breast Cancer Awareness.

In the window, patrons will find a vanity, which Paige has painted pink, available for purchase via silent auction bids.  Also available via silent auction bidding will be:  a sign, donated by Kendall Thomas-Welsh, of ARTifacts Emporium; an Angel of ReClaim, donated by Kathy Owen, of Petticoat Junktion; and, an original 16×20 mixed media artwork from Kimberly Santiago, of Kimberly Santiago Studios.

King states, “When approached, each of these women was saying yes before I could tell them what I needed!  It seems we’ve all been impacted by this disease in one manner or another.”

“One of my facebook friends had made a post suggesting those of us who paint furniture should paint a piece pink and arrange to auction it off as a fund raiser for Breast Cancer Awareness month,” King explains.

YMCAThe Clarksville Area YMCA ABC program is the beneficiary of all proceeds raised by this effort.    According to the program director, Amanda Cherry,  ABC (After Breast Cancer) provides support to Breast Cancer Survivors as they continue to heal.  ABC is a free 16 week program which gives participants:  a customized workout from a Pink Ribbon Certified personal trainer; nutrition counseling; access to a lymphedema specialist; and, a free 16-week membership to the YMCA.

Amanda states, “This program not only provides a community for those who have fought this battle, but is also a source for education and prevention for the survivors, their families, and our community.”

All items are currently on display in the front window at Hodgepodge.  Each piece available for the auction is clearly identified.  You may bid by visiting or phoning the shop during business hours {Sunday noon–4:00pm; Monday, 10:00am–3:00pm; Tuesday – Saturday, 10:00am–6:oopm (open til 7:00pm on Thursdays)}.  You may also bid via email, on the Hodgepodge—Where You Gather Your Home facebook page or on our blog, www.hodgepodge-home.blogspot.com
