Soldiers and Families move to new Health and Dental Clinic

Blanchfield Army Hospital - Fort Campbell KYFort Campbell, KY – Beneficiaries assigned to four Blanchfield Army Community Hospital (BACH) primary care providers and Family members who live in Fort Campbell’s Gardner Hills, The Woodlands and Cole Park housing areas will begin receiving their primary care October 25th within the new Byrd Health Clinic, a Soldier and Family integrated clinic located near Fort Campbell’s Gate 10 and Gardner Hills housing area. This new facility also houses the Adkins Dental Clinic, which will provide dental services to active duty Soldiers.

Beneficiaries who will be assigned to the new Byrd Health Clinic will soon receive a letter in the mail advising them of their new primary care clinic location and the services available onsite. They will remain with their previously assigned primary care providers, however the letter outlines options for patients who may want to continue receiving their primary care from a different provider within the main hospital.

In addition to primary care services for Soldiers and Family members assigned to the clinic, the Byrd Health Clinic will offer radiology, laboratory and a pharmacy. Optometry, physical therapy and audiology will be available for active duty service members. The Byrd Health Clinic pharmacy will fill new prescriptions from Byrd clinic providers.

The clinics are named after two fallen Soldiers from recent conflicts. The health clinic is named after Spc. Jordan M. Byrd, an Army combat medic assigned to the 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division. Byrd was killed in action October 13th, 2010 while aiding a wounded Soldier during a combat mission in Afghanistan.

The dental clinic is named after Sgt. Dustin M. Adkins, a dental specialist assigned to the 5th Special Forces Group Support Battalion at Fort Campbell. Adkins died December 3rd, 2006 from injuries he sustained after the U.S. Marine helicopter he was riding in made an emergency water landing in Iraq.
