Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Plenty of offense was evident in the Austin Peay State University’s first basketball scrimmage, Wednesday afternoon. But it was on the defensive end that left head coach Dave Loos shaking his head.

In fact, between the two halves of basketball the two teams combined for 166 points; the Black team won the first half, 51-38, and the second half, 39-38.

“We can score, no question about that,” Loos said. “But we could score last year. I am discouraged with the defense and the energy we showed on that end of the court.”

Senior center John Fraley scored 29 points over the two halves, 15 in the first half and 14 more in the second, connecting on a combined 14 of 19 from the floor.

“John played good around the basket, but at the same time I am sure how much he was contested,” Loos said.

In the first half, Will Triggs aided Fraley with 11 points by bulling his way inside.  Justin Blake added nine, all on three pointers for the Black.

Freshman Chris Freeman led the White team with 10 points in the first half.

In the second half, it was fellow senior Josh Terry aiding Fraley’s White team with 10 points while TyShwan Edmondson led a balanced Black team with nine points. Freshman guard Herdie Lawrence added eight points, including a pair of three pointers.

The Governors will scrimmage for a second time, 3:00pm, Sunday, in Dave Aaron Arena.
