“His acoustic-based versions of old favorites offer peerless musicianship and comprise an often-grin-inducing listen.”-Country Weekly

Ricky Skaggs' newest CD Country Hits Bluegrass StyleNashville, TN – Ricky Skaggs’ critically acclaimed Country Hits Bluegrass Style’s Track-By-Track interview debuts on SiriusXM’s Bluegrass Junction tomorrow at 11:00am ET. Artist insights and influences abound in the intimate interview with show host, Kyle Cantrell.

Released this summer, the CD is exactly what its title suggests:  Skaggs’ classic Country hits offered up in fresh, new Bluegrass form.  The disc includes Ricky’s first two Country #1 singles, “Crying My Heart Out Over You” and “I Don’t Care,” plus eight additional #1 Country hits, such as “Cajun Moon” and “Highway 40 Blues,” along with four more fan favorites.

The Bluegrass riffs and runs combine with Skaggs’ impeccable tenor for an offering that should delight existing fans, and inspire new allegiances as well.

The program will re-broadcast:

  • 10/27th (Thursday) 9:00pm ET
  • 10/29th (Saturday) 8:00am ET
  • 10/30th (Sunday) 11:00am ET

Ricky will perform “Somebody’s Prayin'” from Country Hits Bluegrass Style during the 17th Annual Inspirational Country Music Awards, held Friday, October 28th, at Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center.  Skaggs is nominated for five ICM Faith, Family & Country Awards: Legend/Pioneer Award, Entertainer, Inspirational Country Song (“Someday Soon”), Musician and Inspirational Bluegrass Artist.  Skaggs has previously won seven ICM Awards, and the 14-time Grammy® winner has also been honored with eight Academy of Country Music Awards and eight Country Music Association Awards.

Ricky has shared his vibrant music with fans for decades, but this year has been a particularly busy one for the heralded entertainer.  He’s toured the country with two different live shows; the Treasure Chest Tour, and traditional Bluegrass evenings, both featuring Kentucky Thunder.

In addition to Country Hits Bluegrass Style, Skaggs issued A Skaggs Family Christmas Volume Two in September. The 10-song disc features both studio and live recordings, and includes a bonus DVD filled with 26 performances of traditional seasonal favorites and new compositions. Skaggs, The Whites and family have taken the holiday show on the road for the last eight years, entertaining crowds in venues ranging from churches to symphony halls, to the National Tree Lighting Ceremony in Washington D.C.  They continue the tradition this year, concluding the Tour with a special evening at Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center on December 22nd.
