Doyle Named CIAF APSU Athlete of the Week

Nikki DoyleAustin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Nikki Doyle, a junior on the Austin Peay State University volleyball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

The Santa Maria, CA native led the Lady Govs with 48 kills during the week. She opened the week with nine kills against Morehead State and added 16 digs. Doyle improved to 15 kills (.361 attack percentage) with three service aces and three blocks against Tennessee Tech. The senior finished the week with a career-best 24 kills (.450 attack percentage) with two service aces against Jacksonville State.

For her efforts, Doyle was named the Adidas Ohio Valley Conference “Offensive Player of the Week”.

The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Tuesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.

Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included:

Senior Paige Economos, of the volleyball team, was named the Adidas OVC “Defensive Player of the Week”. She recorded 23 digs against Morehead State and followed that up with 28 against Tennessee Tech. Economos finished the week with a 32-dig effort against Jacksonville State. She also had six assists and two services aces for the week. Economos had just one reception error in each match last week to give her a .946 reception percentage.

Sophomore Xiamar Richards, of the women’s cross country team, was named to the OVC All-Conference team after finishing 10th at the OVC Championships, Saturday, at The Arlington Club.

Senior Ryan White, of the football team, ran for 119 yards on 23 carries, Saturday, against Eastern Illinois. It was his 13th career 100-yard rushing performance as a Gov.

Freshman Cami Fields, of the volleyball team was named the Adidas OVC “Setter of the Week”. Fields recorded 45 assists, 12 digs, two kills and two blocks against Morehead State. She followed that up with 48 assists, three kills, nine digs and one block in the win over Tennessee Tech. Fields concluded the week with 53 assists, three kills and seven digs against Jacksonville State.
