This year, the tradition continues with the 17th Annual Bread and Words reading on November 22nd in the APSU Morgan University Center Ballroom. The evening begins with a simple meal of soup and bread at 6:00pm, followed by a 7:00pm reading of poetry and fiction by local writers. A donation of $5.00 for the Salvation Army is requested at the door.

Members and friends of the APSU Department of Languages and Literature interested in preparing pots of soup and loaves of bread may drop off those items shortly before 6:00pm on the evening of the benefit. Jane Burney from Lovin’ Spoonful and Silke Tyler from Silke’s German Bakery will donate food for the event. Chuck Emery and Lloyd Nicely will provide music.

Readers for this year’s event will be Laura McClister, Charles Booth, Ryan Boyd, Chase Davenport and Raven Jackson.

For more information about the benefit, contact Susan Wallace in the APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts by telephone at 931.221.7031 or by email at wallacess@apsu.edu.
