Wags to Witches raised nearly $16,000 for the Humane Society

Humane Society of Clarksville – Montgomery County (HSCMC)Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, the Humane Society of Clarksville-Montgomery County held their annual Wags to Witches Fur Ball Bash raising almost $16,000 that will go to help fund their operations over the coming year.

The Humane Society of Clarksville-Montgomery County uses the funds to provide low-cost Spay/Neuter vouchers, Pet Fostering, along with  counseling and education services. They are also working to establish the first low cost Spay-Neuter clinic in our community which will help pet owners be able to afford to do their part in controlling the stray dog and cat population in the county.

The Riverview Inn ballroom was decorated in a Hollywood theme complete with a gigantic Hollywood sign dominating the dance floor.

Scattered around the room was various scenes from classic Halloween Hollywood movies such as Jack Nicholson in his iconic role in the shining peering through a hole chopped in a door. In the lobby was a ticket booth with a life size replica of the Pinhead character from the movie Hellraiser that was used as a photo backdrop for those who wished.

The silent auction was also in the lobby along with the Mr. and Miss Wags Photo Contest, but more on that later.

The food was amazing and we have George Hartman and Chef Wendell Hensley along with the culinary experts from the American Culinary Federation of Clarksville along to thank. They were also assisted in the kitchen by folks from the Fort Campbell, KY Culinary Arts Team. The spread at Wags to Witches just can’t be beat and the food is worth the ticket price alone. Budweiser of Clarksville also provided a variety of Budweiser beers as free refreshments for those who attended.

Hartman is an amazing cake designer and created a special cake in honor of the 5th anniversary of Wags to Witches.

The Mr. and Miss Wags to Witches Pet Photo Contest is one of the big money makers for the events. Pet owners who wish to participate submit photos of their pet for consideration which are placed on the Humane Society web site for public voting. The top five male photos & top five female photos receiving the most donations are selected as the Finalists, and then are displayed at the Wags to Witches event where attendees can vote by placing a donation in that pets jar.

One of the final events of the night was the costume contest. Joe Sweeten dressed up as Hulk Hogan won the most likely to make you purr (sexiest).
