Man out on Bond Arrested Again

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – On November 6th, 2011, around 10:30pm, officers responded to 944 Granny White Road after 911 received several calls about a man, Jerry Hamilton, that had posted several videos/comments on Facebook threatening to harm himself.

Additionally, Jerry Hamilton had an active Conditional Order of Release prohibiting him from being at 944 Granny White Road.

When Officers Gregory Rosencrants and Jeffrey Jackson were attempting to make entry to the back door to take Hamilton into custody, he came out of a room with knives taped to his hands, ran at the officers, and threatened them. He made many threats that he was going to kill law enforcement.

Officers exited the residence, at which time, Hamilton barricaded himself inside of the house. The house was surrounded and Crisis Negotiators and the Tactical Unit were called to the scene.

Hamilton was contacted several times on the phone, but disconnected each time after a brief dialogue. Negotiators repeatedly attempted to contact him via telephone and public address system, but received no further response from Hamilton.

Since negotiating attempts proved futile, the Tactical Unit deployed chemical irritants into the house, forcing Hamilton to exit, and enabling officers to take him into custody around 2:00am, November 7th.

Jerry Hamilton had been out on bond since October 28th, 2011 for Aggravated Domestic, Assaulting Officers, and Vandalism.

  1. What this story fails to tell you is that this man is a veteran suffering with a traumatic brain injury he received while serving his country. He has needed help for some time with his devastating injuries, but has been unable to get it. He needs help, not jail!

  2. There is a side to this story that people do not know. I am one of the people who called the police to go to Jerry after seeing the videos on Facebook.
Jerry served in Afghanistan. He suffered a traumatic brain injury while there. A side effect is adverse changes in his personality.
Jerry has been trying to get help since he first noticed the symptoms. Since he was a contractor he doesn’t seem to be getting aid from the VA or federal government.
Jerry has simply hit bottom in his health, personal life, financial life and just about everywhere else.
Jerry’s videos and posts are cries for help and only a few of us are listening.

  3. My God!! This picture doesn’t even look like Jerry. This is a tragedy! So heartbreaking! Jerry previously lived and attended school in my home town of Vernon, Tx. This was not the Jerry I knew!!! He begged and pleaded for help and appears to have gotten desperate. What he did was wrong but do you seriously think that he can help it????? No, he can’t!!!! He is SICK and you would have to be blind not to see it. HOW will jail HELP him????? He needs to be hospitalized and stabalized somewhere safe! I haven’t seen Jerry since highschool so I have nothing to gain from this post. I just pray that someone helps him. He has children who need him!!! He fought for our country….he deserves for us to fight for him!!!!!
