Three Austin Peay Governors sophomore defenders earn Capital One Academic All-District

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Three sophomore defenders on Austin Peay State University’s football team have been selected to the Capital One Academic All-District team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Defensive linemen Iosua Siliva and Reese Bulmash and linebacker Josh Carroll were selected to the Capital One Academic All-District 3 team in honoring both their classroom work and on-field accomplishments . District 3 is comprised of all Division I schools in Tennessee, North Carolina and Virginia.

The trio will now have their names placed into consideration for Academic All-America honors.

Iosua Siliva

Iosua SilivaA two-year starter at defensive end, Siliva owns a 3.9 grade-point average in Agriculture-Sustainable Development. He is a one-time member of the President’s List (4.0 GPA) and was a member of the Dean’s List (3.5 GPA) his other semester along with earning Athletics Director’s Honor Roll both semesters a year ago. The native of Vailoa, America Samoa, also was a member of the Ohio Valley Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll (3.25 GPA for year).

On the field, Siliva has been credited with 15 tackles, including a pair of quarterback sacks just last week against Central State.

Reese Bulmash

Reese BulmashBulmash, meanwhile, moved into the starting lineup at nose tackle in his second Govs’ season after serving as a key reserve a year ago. The business finance major is a two-time member of the Dean’s List and the Athletics Director’s Honor Roll. The Marietta, GA, native also was a member of the OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll in his first APSU year.

Bulmash has been credited with 15 stops, including 1.5 tackles for loss, during his sophomore season.

Josh Carroll

Josh CarrollCarroll moved into the starting early in the 2011 season has become one of the team’s leading tacklers, his 59 tackles ranking third best.  The Adamsville native owns a 3.66 GPA in Health and Human Performance (K-12 Teaching/Professional Education). He is a two-time Dean’s List and Athletics Director’s Honor Roll member while also earning OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll status in his first year.

The CoSIDA Academic All-America and Academic All-District is organized and voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
