Hanley named Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week

Austin Peay State UniversityWhitney HanleyClarksville, TN – Whitney Hanley, a senior on the Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

The Mt. Washington, KY native, scored a career-high 28 points on 10-18 shooting in the Lady Govs 76-70 season-opening victory against Southern Illinois. The 28 points marked the seventh time in Hanley’s career that she topped the 20-point mark.

The senior guard’s 28 points were the most points scored by a Lady Gov since Ashley Herring’s 28 point effort against Tennessee Tech on February 20th, 2010.

Hanley also recorded five assists, seven rebounds, and a blocked shot in the victory.

The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Tuesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.

Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included:

Senior Tyshwan Edmondson, of the men’s basketball team, scored a team high 20 points (8-18) in the Governors 71-80 loss to Middle Tennessee, Friday. Edmondson hit four three-pointers in the game.

Junior Devin Stark, of the football team, lead the Governors in receiving yards catching seven passes for 81 yards and two touchdowns, Saturday, against Murray State. This season Stark, has led the Govs in receiving seven times.

Senior Ryan White, of the football team, recorded 92 yards rushing on 20 carries, a 4.6 yard per carry average, Saturday, against Murray State. White also had three catches for 24 yards, putting him over 100 all-purpose yards for the fourth-straight game.

Senior Paige Economos, of the volleyball team, recorded 42 digs in seven games last week. Economos recorded 25 digs at Southeast Missouri and then added 17 digs at Murray State with two services aces. She finished the week with one reception error in 42 chances (.976 reception precentage).
