Hanley named Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week for Second Week in a Row

Clarksville, TN – Whitney Hanley, a senior on the Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

The Mt. Washington, KY native again broke the 20-point mark scoring 21 points and grabbing seven rebounds in the Lady Govs come-from-behind 61-58 victory over Lipscomb, Monday. During the game Hanley became the 14th Lady Govs player to record 1,000 career points.

The senior guard hit the game-tying basket while being fouled with 56 seconds remaining and made the ensuing free throw to give APSU its first lead since the opening basket. She would later make two free throws to secure the win.

Her heroics earned her Ohio Valley Conference “Player of the Week” honors.

The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Tuesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.

Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included:

Senior Ryan White, of the football team, recorded 140 yards rushing on 30 carries, including a touchdown, Saturday, against Tennessee Tech. In the game White broke the 1,000-rushing yard mark for the second time in his career. He finished the season with 1,100 rushing yards.

Nicole Olszewski, of the women’s basketball team, scored 11 points (4-10 shooting) in the Lady Govs 61-58 victory over Lipscomb, Monday. On the defensive end Olszewski swiped a career-high tying four steals and grabbed three rebounds.

Senior Josh Terry, of the men’s basketball team, scored a team high 16 points (8-13) in the Governors loss to nationally-ranked California, Tuesday. Terry continued to shoot the ball well in the Governors loss to Oral Roberts, Terry was 4-7 from the field with 10 points also grabbing six rebounds in the game.
