Fort Campbell Falcons to host Louisville Central in State Semi-Final

Tonight at Fort Campbell High School’s Fryar Stadium

Fort Campbell HighschoolFort Campbell, KY – This is something we’re getting all too familiar with. The Fort Campbell football team making a run for the Kentucky class 3A state football title.

We’ve been down this road before, and this Friday night at Fryar Stadium on the Fort Campbell army base, we’ll take a ride down “Championship Road” again as the Falcons will host the number one team in the commonwealth in division 3A, Louisville Central.  Kick-off is at 7:30pm. You better get there early. This is a big deal.

Fort Campbell is led by their 3A District 1, Coach of the Year, Shawn Berner and senior Aaron Hills, who plays on both sides of the ball. In their win over Paducah Tilghman, Hills ran for 123 yards on 30 carries and threw for 58 yards, going 5-for-8.  Hills excelled on defense intercepting two passes, one that may have saved the game for the Falcons.

Fort Campbell will have to play well in all areas of the game.  Louisville Central is coached by Ty Scroggins, also named 3A Coach of the Year, District 3.  The Yellow Jackets are coming off a 26-0 win over Bell County.  Central is led by running back Anthony Wales, who is pondering scholarship offers from Kentucky, Louisville, and Illinois.  Wales has 2480 rushing yards this season and has scored 35 touchdowns.  This is big time high school football.

The emotional temperature of this game goes without saying. Fort Campbell football players are sons of military families, who have to deal with the stress and anxiety of deployment and moms and dads who go off to war. The military family is an interesting dynamic of uncertainty and loss of loved ones. Friends who have lost loved ones to war, or who serve at long stretches at a time, missing family moments that can never be relived.

This is more than just a football game. This is a time where Clarksville can “embrace” these families as their own.  To show them how much we care.  To show them how much we appreciate their families and their service and sacrifice.  This is a time to support Fort Campbell. Remember, get there early. This is a big deal.
