Clarksville Mayor McMillan to attend Institute of Politics Program

City of ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan will attend a program presented by Harvard University’s Institute of Politics. The seminar, which is offered by invitation only, focuses on training newly elected mayors and takes place every two years. All expenses for the seminar are paid by the Institute.

“I’m very honored to be invited to this seminar and look forward to hearing from some of the most respected leaders in public policy and leadership. Having the opportunity to talk and work with mayors from across the country about the issues we all face is good for Clarksville,” said Mayor McMillan.

She will join over twenty other incoming mayors from large cities across the country for the three-day seminar on leadership and policy briefings on the issues they face.

“Co-hosted every two years by the Institute and the US Conference of Mayors, the Seminar is unlike any other program for new city executives. It introduces recently elected mayors to the perspective of successful mayors and others who have dealt with the challenges of governing in the complex environment of urban politics,” said Trey Grayson, Director, of the Institute of Politics.

The program will take place from November 30th through December 2nd, 2011. Topics to be discussed include jobs and economic development, public education, public safety and retiree health care.
