Campbell Crossing’s National Night Out Wins Prestigious Award

Campbell CrossingFort Campbell, KY – The National Association of Town Watch (NATW) has awarded Campbell Crossing with the National Military Award for its outstanding participation in the 28th Annual National Night Out (NNO). Criteria for the award included Overall Campaign, Participation, and Law Enforcement Involvement. Only three other Army installations were honored with this award.

Every August, Campbell Crossing joins other military installations and communities throughout the United States to encourage residents to lock their doors, turn on exterior lights, and spend the evening outside with their neighbors and law enforcement personnel. The event focuses on keeping communities safe and educates the Residents about crime prevention in their neighborhoods.

“This is great recognition for the partnership efforts of the Community, Campbell Crossing and the Department of Emergency Services,” Said Keith Shumate, Fort Campbell Chief of Police. “I personally appreciate everyone’s hard work in making this event a huge success and look forward to continuing to improve this event in the future.”

Campbell Crossing has been participating in NNO for the last eight years. Event attendees enjoyed free food, fun, games, and prizes all while learning valuable safety information. Safety experts on hand typically include Fort Campbell’s Police and Fire Departments, the Fort Campbell Environmental Department, Sexual Assault and Response Program, Mental Health Facilities, Military Family Life Consultants, event sponsors and more.

“We take great pride in build lasting relationships between our Residents and those who help keep our Neighborhoods safe,” said Karissa Poe, Community Services Coordinator and NNO organizer for Campbell Crossing.

“Everyone involved has worked hard at making sure this event not only is fun for families, but beneficial as well.”

  1. I recieved a call from Campobell Crossing on 3-21-2012 and the woman in the message stated I needed to call her about my “debt”. After listening to the message I posted this message to Campbell Crossings Facebook. They deleted it a few hours after opening there office on Fort Campbell. I have heard from a number of people that Campbell Crossing is a nighmare for soldiers getting out or soldiers moving to another post, but they delete all post that shed any real light to there shady business practices and how they go out of there way to hurt soldiers because the soldiers do not have any real recourse because for the most part.

Not gonna pay you and let me count the ways.

So I will set the way back machine to about 4 or 5 months ago upon my discharge from the Army and then my wonderful ordeal with Campbell Crossing, in which my moving out turned into a 1800 dollar bill, that I refuse to pay. I have rented houses in California and never ever paid more than 600 dollars in cleaning expenses. I went like allot of other soldiers, went to transportation to arrange my move out in early November and had my stuff moved at government expense. Everything at transportation went smoothly and I went from there to Campbell Crossing office to advise them of my move out date later that month. I set up the an inspection of the property. Transportation set up movers to come in on the 28th, 29th and the 30th to move our stuff out. Our inspection was set up for the Dec 1st. The woman that handled my case as she put it, said she had a son that was a Marine and she loved her job and she would make sure that my family “would be taken care of”. This was the first and last time I spoke to this woman, my “case worker”. Now I was asked a few questions about my move out and was issued a choice, go to a briefing to learn what Campbell Crossing wanted cleaned for the move out or pay 300 dollars and they would take care of the clean up for me. I at first said I was going to do the clean up, but a few days later my wife and I decided to pay the 300 dollars for the clean up because our move out dates were Mon, Tues and Wens and the inspection date was Thursday. So I tried to call, could not get any one to answer the phone, so I got in my car and drove the 1/2 mile to there office. When I got there I sat for almost 30 min waiting for the girl at the front desk, i forget her name but thas a general description the skinny black one, was on a personal call and couldn’t be disturbed to talk to me. So I waited all the while being ignored by other Campbell Crossing staff. Yes I was in uniform, but like most civilians on Fort Campbell, they treat soldiers like the gum on there shoes. So when she finally got off the phone, she looked at me like I was inconveniencing her being there. This was only my first time dealing with her, but not the last and she always seemed to have this attitude of superiority, as do most of the Campbell Crossing Staff at Perice Village. So i advised her I needed to talk to my “case worker” and I wanted to pay the 300 to have them clean the place for me. She at first said that I could not go back on my decision and I would have to attend the briefing. I explained the situation to her and like she cared, she harldy focused on the words that I was saying. Finally she got up to talk to her manager, who ever that was. She came back with a form for me to fill out and they would charge me 300 to clean the place up. Again i was advised that this would be all that I would pay. This is where most of the misleading stuff starts. So a couple weeks go by and the Monday of our move rolls around. No movers,……I go to the transportation office about 3pm and they give me a phone number to call I call the company Wheton Worldwide in Nashville, and they tell me that they had some scheduling conflicts and that they would be out the next day. I was assured by Wheaton Worldwide that the move out would not go past Wednesday that they would send out extra people to make sure we were moved out by the evening of the 30th. Well, Wheaton Worldwide sent out 5 people, which come to find out from the movers was the typical sized crew and it would still take 3 days to move us out. My mode of thought was that this would run past our inspection, so I got on the phone. And yet again, could not get anyone on the phone. So I got in my car and drove the 1/2 mile to there office, and yet again was greeted by the same girl on the phone for 30 plus minutes. Who yet again treated me like I was less than her. So i advised her of what was going on, at which time she tells me that she cannot move my inspection date and I tell her that the movers will not be done and the person doing the inspection would be wasting there time coming out and the appointment would need to be moved to Friday. She starts to stand up and tell me that she won’t be able to move my appointment, this turns into a 30 min conversation. She finally gets up and goes back to yet again talk to unknown manager. She comes back and starts taking notes on what I am saying because the person I needed to talk to was not there my “case worker” and she would deliver the message to change the date. I was like cool, now that I wasted an hour of my life talking to this retard I leave, expecting for things to be taken care of in the Campbell Crossing office. Yeah right. Thursday morning rolls around and the inspector shows up, and gives my wife the 3rd degree on why the movers aren’t done. I wasn’t there, by the time I got home my wife was pissed, she told me that the woman that came out was mad that we did’nt call the office. My wife did explain that I had gone down there and told them to change the date. My wife also told me that this woman had the Campbell Crossing high and Mighty attitude. So she leaves, I come home and my wife unloads about how horrible this woman was to her, and how she waisted her time. Oh sorry inspector from Campbell Crossing woman, you got in your car to driver 5 min to our house and my wife explained the situation if as if you had not opened your eyes and saw the movers still there and drove 5 min back to your office, total time, maybe 30 min. This after I did let snot nosed brat receptionist at your front desk know to move the appointment. So the movers did not finish with our place till about midnight on Thursday. They apparently had another move across post that they took people from my move to finish because they were behind on that one too. So the movers leave at midnight, and we had an inspection at 9 that morning. Not allot of time to clean a place to white glove inspection style, but then again I was informed that if I paid 300 dollars that I would not have to clean it to a white glove inspection…..what a lie. My wife was embarrassed to leave the house in the state it was in so she stayed behind till 5 or so in the morning to clean as best she could. She cleaned until she dropped and the place was still not perfect, but looked good. At 8 we got up and went over to the house and waited till inspector lady showed up. She was right on time and was even a little sarcastic and asked if we were ready this time. She was lucky not to get punched in the face. She starts her inspection, going from room to room and writing things down on her clipboard. I figure no big deal, we were going to write a 300 dollar check and be done with it. She takes about an hour to an hour and a half to finish her inspection. There wasn’t any major damage, just some paint on the wall that my daughters stripped off. I figured I might have to pay for that and possibly a few other things but certainty nothing having to do with clean up. She then tells us that she would like us to go to her office so that we can discuss the charges. So we load up and go to the Campbell Crossing office at Pierce Village. She sits us down and starts going through the 8 or so pages of charges. She also asked if one of us had gone to the briefing and then looked at us like were retarted and asked why, so i explain what the snot of a receptionist and my case worker had said and she tells us that I should have gone anyway. That the Briefing would have explained to us what they expected from a move out, white glove inspection. SO why the hell was I agreeing to pay 300 dollars for a clean up, which I was still being charged for on top of all the other 1500 worth of charges. 20 dollars for each scratched tile, and 75 dollars for leaving leaves in the 10 ft gutter outside. I was also paying for a floor cleaning service to come in and for the house to be completely repainted. Apperantly the we were going to be charged 300 dollars no matter what condition we left the house in they would still send in a clean up crew at our expense. We also explained that there was not enough time to clean the place out, givn the circumstances of the move out. Does Campbell crossing care….no,….shoulda seen this coming due to the lack of customer service at my visits, or the repeated calls to fix things they determined weren’t priority, moving us down on the list to be fixed to eventually falling off the list. This is how they make a profit, over charge the soldier moving out, and if they are still in the army and they don’t pay they just go up the chain of command, and you know how the chain of command takes care of soldiers these days, most lower enlisted aren’t worth the gum on their superiors shoes, the Chain of command hates paperwork unless its a negative counseling statement or some type of disciplinary action, thats another story. But if you are getting out of the Army they have little leverage, and I will tell you why. I got a call at about noon from a woman on the Campbell Crossing office, talking about how I owed a debt and I need to call right away. I also received a letter stating they were going to place my “debt” with a collection agency. Whatever. I had debt upon joining the Army, i joined to out of a scene of obligation to my country and to get to a point of being debt free. I ended up with more debt because of the Army again another story. But to go on and explain why Campbell Crossing will not be getting a dime out of me till they come up with a more reasonable amount. You know what, place it with a collection agency, bill collectors are a stupid lot, they will also not have any pressure points to get this “debt” collected. My credit is shot, so there goes that pressure point. I have no assets, so they will not sue me since they have no leverage to attach ie not able to put a lein against my home, i don’t own one. It is also not cost effective for a collection agency to sue an account under 2000 dollars. I’m also unemployed and it doesn’t make any scene to sue someone who doesn’t have a job, what wages are you going to attach. So here is the scenario of what will most likely happen. It will be placed with a collection agency, where a bill collector will try and to use these pressure points to get me to pay. Since none of these will work, they will try and use my morals against me again this won’t work since Campbell Crossing why pay a company with no scene of morality either. So the collector will move on to another easier to collect account, and the account will eventually move to another collector who will do exactly the same thing, this will happen over and over again. They might even try and contact my wife which will also not work because you haven’t heard my wife get angry and yell…..I dare you to call her. The collector may go as far as calling my family members or neighbors, who they can’t tell anything to with out violating the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), so sure call my family, i am sure I will get the messages, but will I call you, not likely. Your phone call today was borderline a violation of the FDCPA but in my irritation I deleted the message, that is your gain. Eventually after 6 to 9 months I will be contacted and will be offered a settlement on the account. Woo hoo, a lesser amount, probably 75 cents on the dollar. Still to high, this again will happen over and over again. Eventually it will get to being either charged off or it will go to a second agency or maybe even sold to a debt buyer. Again I will either be contacted to pay a settlement, this time probably 50 cents on the dollar, so settle the account for half the original amount……..naaaa 900 dollars still to high. So I wait till I am finally contacted and made the offer to settle at 35 cents on the dollar to just get it off the Campbell Crossing books, never mind that they will have already written this off and gotten a portion of the money back in there taxes. So I will probably at that point take it and pay the 300 to 600 dollars or so to be done with it. In fact why don’t you take the debt and just write it off now, it’s not worth it for you to peruse. Bye Bye Campbell Crossing.
