Clarksville Police Department Captain Trades One Uniform for Another

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – One of Clarksville Police Department’s Command Staff traded in one uniform for another.

Captain James Corbett Smith, Clarksville Police Department, like many others, serve their country and community in a civilian profession and wear a dual hat as a member of the Guard or Reserve. In James Smith’s case, he serves as a  Command Sergeant Major for the Tennessee Army National Guard.

James Smith has served in an active military duty capacity and had deployments to include Operation Storm and two tours in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. After the last deployment, James Smith resumed his law enforcement career and was a District Commander with the Clarksville Police Department.

Captain Smith has been called to active duty again and was offered the position of Command Sergeant Major for the Warrior Transition Battalion, Fort Campbell, KY.

Police Department Captain. (Photo by CPD-Jim Knoll)The Warrior Transition Battalion takes care of wounded, injured, or ill Soldiers as they concentrate on healing to either return to duty with their units or successfully transition out of the military as honored veterans.

He officially assumed duties at a Change of Responsibility Ceremony at Fort Campbell on December 19th, 2011.

The Clarksville Police Department has 20 officers that are members of Guard or Reserve Units.
