High School Basketball Roundup for December 21st

Clarksville Sports NetworkClarksville, TN – Both Clarksville High’s and Rossview High’s girls basketball teams won games in their respective tournaments on Wednesday.

Clarksville High improved 13-0 with its 48-34 win over Hillsboro in the Ensworth Tournament. Rossview upped its record to 11-1 with its 46-42 victory over Cane Ridge in the Riverdale Tournament.

In boys action, Northeast ran its record to 13-0 thanks to its 70-63 win over Riverdale to win the Riverdale Tournament on Wednesday night. But Hunters Lane beat West Creek 46-36  in the third-place game of the Riverdale Tournament.West Creek is 4-7 this year.

The Clarksville High boys team beat Ridgeland 63-51 in the Ensworth Tournament and improved to 6-5. Kenwood boys also topped Northwest in the final game of the Queen City Christmas Tournament at Kenwood. Kenwood went 2-1 in the tournament and is 11-2 on the season, while Northwest went 0-3 and is 0-7 this season.

James D. Horne began his writing career at the Carrollton Missouri Democrat in 1995, and was the assistant sports editor/writer for the Hammond Louisiana Daily Star for two years.  In 1998, Horne became the Missouri Basketball beat writer for the Columbia Daily Tribune. He joined The Leaf-Chronicle in Oct. 2003 as the lead prep writer and became the Austin Peay beat writer in March of 2005. During his career he won a state association sports writing award at the Daily Star and two while at the Leaf-Chronicle. Originally from Tampa, Florida, Horne earned his B.A in communications from Central Methodist University in Fayette Missouri.
