Santa Claus’s visits to Christmas on the Cumberland

Clarksville, TN – After participating in the opening of Christmas on the Cumberland on November 22nd, 2010; Santa Claus returned several times to visit with children enjoying the Christmas lights spectacular.

Clarksville Online tagged along on one of the evenings, Saturday December 16th;  taking hundreds of photos of young people enjoying their visit with Clarksville, Tennessee’s Jolly Old Saint Nicholas.

Part of Santa’s visits include giving toy’s to the children under the age of 12, as measured by his 4.3′ tall candy cane. 4.3′ is the height of an average 12 year old child; though Santa does makes case by case exceptions for the taller 12 year olds. Over the last 10 years Santa Claus has given away over 70,000 toys that he and his helpers Gary and Marie Caudill have purchased specifically for this purpose.

Santa’s visits to Christmas on the Cumberland are sponsored by the Clarksville Department of Parks and Recreation, the Woodlawn Papa Rock Travel Center; Clarksville Limb and Brace, and Geico Insurance.

The Woodlawn Papa Rock Travel Center provided several golden tickets to special needs families that were redeemable with Santa during his time at the Clarksville Riverwalk. The golden tickets  allowed Santa Claus to give those families just a little bit more, to help them make their Christmas’ special this year.

The Woodlawn Papa Rock really jumped up on board this year to help Gary Caudell in his mission to provide Christmas to area kids who are in need of toys. ā€œThe money the Woodlawn Papa Rock Travel Center provided helped us out a lot, we were able to add more locations to our itinerary this year,ā€ Caudell said. ā€œWe greatly appreciate all they have done to help bring a great Christmas to kids in our area! Without organizations like the Woodlawn Papa Rock we wouldnā€™t be able to do all we are currently doing in the community,ā€ he said.
