Military Saves Week 2012

Morale, Welfare and RecreationFort Campbell, KY – The Fort Campbell Army Community Service Financial Readiness Program encourages all Soldiers and Families to participate in Military Saves Week 2012. This year’s theme is “Set a Goal, Make a Plan, Save Automatically”.

Activities and presentations will be offered from February 19th through February 25th to encourage our military community to save, build wealth and avoid the downward spiral of debt.  Learning and establishing positive money management habits will contribute to personal financial readiness and overall mission readiness.

Presentations will cover Saving and Investing, presented by the Fort Campbell Federal Credit Union; TSP Investing for Retirement; How to Buy a House; How to Buy a Car (and other large purchases); Caring For and Maintaining Your Car; Saving on Your Utility Bills and Conserving Energy presented by Clarksville Gas and Water; and How to be a Savvy Shopper.  Other events include a Coupon Class and a Commissary Tour.

The Saving and Investing Class will kick off the week on February 21st beginning at 9:00am and TSP Investing for Retirement at 1:00pm; followed by Caring For and Maintaining Your Car on February 22nd at 9:00am and How to Buy a Car (and other large purchases) on February 22nd at 1:00pm; Saving Money around the House on February 23rd at 9:00am and How to Buy a House on February 23rd at 1:00pm; Commissary Tour on February 24th at 8:00am; a Couponing Class on February 24th at 10:00am; and How to be a Savvy Shopper on February 24th at 1:00pm.  All classes will be held at ACS Financial Readiness, Bldg. 5662 Screaming Eagle Blvd.  Seating is limited and registration is required.

During Military Saves Week, Soldiers and Family Members will be encouraged to take “The Saver Pledge.”  This Pledge is a dedication to reduce debt and build wealth while encouraging others to do the same.  Learning and establishing positive money management habits will contribute to personal financial fitness and overall mission readiness.

The pledge can be taken by going online to www.militarysaves.org or by visiting the ACS Financial Readiness Office located at 5662 Screaming Eagle Boulevard.  Financial Counselors will be on hand to assist, educate, and encourage Soldiers and Family Members to become more financially secure.  Adopt the “Military Saver” lifestyle and ensure you are equipped with relevant tools and resources to become more financially secure.
