APSU Sports: Austin Peay Women’s Indoor Track and Field
Columbus, OH – Austin Peay women’s indoor track and field team prepared for the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championships at the OSU Tune-Up, hosted by Ohio State.
The OSU Tune Up proved to be a highly competitive meet, featuring host Ohio State, Ohio University, Marshall, Miami (Ohio), Wright State, along with individuals from Cincinnati. The Lady Govs came away with seven personal bests, picking up eight top-5 finishes and winning the 1600-meter relay.

Austin Peay’s team of Candace Johnson, Taelor Slaughter, Cenitra Hudson and Chantelle Grey won the 1600-meter relay with a 3:56.39 time, which is their fourth-best time this season. In preparation for Grey to run the 800-meters at the OVC Championships, she went a shorter distance at the Tune Up, posting a 1:32.78 time in the 600-meter run, finishing third.
Also on the track, Xiamar Richards finished third in the mile run, posting APSU’s season-best time at 5:10.15. Kelly Colbert set a personal-best in the 400-meter dash (1:02.54), Erika Adams finished sixth with a personal-best 200-meter time (26.21).
In the field events, the Lady Govs had a pair of top-five pole vault finishes. Nichole Bressner was third (3.35m) while Molly Basch was fourth at 3.05m. Tanesha Campbell finished second in the shot put (13.84m) and also set a personal-best in the weight throw at 15.09m.
Next up for the Lady Govs is the OVC Indoor Championships, hosted by Tennessee State, Saturday and Sunday, at the Gentry Center.
