While senior Vanja Tomic has gotten off to hot start, the rest of the young Lady Govs have struggled. Tomic currently stands at 5-2 overall including two wins against ranked opponents. Sophomore Andra Cornea, who started the season at No. 6 singles, has since moved to No. 5 singles to post a 3-0 mark.

Much of the Lady Govs success is tied to the depth that can be provided by the four freshmen – Alison Carre, Ornella DiSalvo, Jovana Karak and Vanessa Tavarez.

Belmont enters Friday’s match having won three of its last four matches. The loss came last Friday, 5-2, to OVC member Murray State, while they have wins against North Alabama, Kentucky Wesleyan and Western Kentucky. The Bruins advantage against the Lady Govs will be at the bottom of the lineup, where they have an 11-10 record in Nos. 4-6.

Lipscomb, meanwhile, hosts Abilene Christian, Friday, before traveling to Clarksville for Saturday’s match. The Bisons currently are 2-4 overall with wins against Western Kentucky and Alabama A&M.
