Reed Harper named Copies in a Flash Austin Peay Athlete of the Week

Clarksville, TN – Reed Harper, a junior on the Austin Peay State University baseball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

The Clarksville native earned adidas Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week honors after batting .600 during the Governors opening weekend of play.

The junior shortstop went 9-for-15 with four runs scored, a double, home run and four RBI as Austin Peay won three of four games against Illinois State.

Harper opened the 2012 season with a 4-for-5 effort, Friday, scoring three times in the Govs 9-6 victory. After being held hitless in the opening game of a doubleheader, Saturday, Harper would go 3-for-4 from the plate, with two RBI including a walk-off home run in the nightcap. He finished the series with a 2-for-3 performance in Sunday’s finale.

Junior Leslie Martinez, of the women’s basketball team, recorded career-highs in points (20) and rebounding (14) en route to her season’s third double-double in Saturday’s 88-81 overtime victory against Morehead State. For her effort she earned adidas Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week honors.

Senior Tyshwan Edmondson, of the men’s basketball team, scored 23 points, including 5-of-12 from three-point territory, in the Governors 71-68 victory over Belmont. Earlier in the week Edmondson scored 15 points on 5-of-12 shooting against Morehead State.

Junior Chantelle Grey, of the track and field team, took home third-place in the 600-meter run at the Ohio State Tune-Up, finishing in 1:32.78. Grey was also a member of the 1600-meter relay team that finished in 3:56.39 taking home first-place.
