The Perfect Place to Prepare for Spring

Nashville Lawn and Garden ShowNashville, TN – The 23rd Annual Nashville Lawn & Garden Show will return to the Tennessee State Fairgrounds  on Thursday, March 1st, through Sunday, March 4th, ready to welcome thousands of people to Tennessee’s largest annual gardening event.

Gardens Past, Present & Future is the theme for the 4-day show that is a “must-go” event for anyone who loves spring flowers and plants, can’t wait to plant a vegetable garden, wants some gardening tips and landscaping ideas, or enjoys shopping for outdoor décor and garden gadgets.

More than 20 live gardens are the centerpiece of the event. Created by award-winning Tennessee landscapers and several horticultural organizations, each garden has a distinctive style. All of the gardens include hundreds of plants and most feature a fountain, pond or waterfall as well as structures such as terraced patios, walkways, gazebos or fireplaces.  The show also includes a floral design gallery with 31 showpiece arrangements interpreting the event’s theme.

There are 250 exhibit booths filled with horticultural and outdoor living products and services, gardening and lawn equipment, and a variety of plants, seeds, herbs and bulbs.

A particularly popular feature is the series of free lectures presented throughout the show. Speakers this year include Peter J. Hatch, director of gardens and grounds at Monticello, the home of Thomas Jefferson, who will speak about President Jefferson’s passion for gardening on March 2nd and March 3rd.

Vincent Simeone, horticulturist, garden writer and lecturer from Long Island, NY, will discuss the creation of sustainable landscapes on March 2nd and flowering shrubs and trees on March 3rd.

Phyllis D. Light, director of the Appalachian Center for Natural Health, Arab, AL, will explain how to grow your own medicine on March 2nd.

Other lecture topics include foodscapes, heirloom seed saving, hummingbirds, floral design, and great garden plants for this region. Plus, homegrown horticulturists, the Davidson County Master Gardeners, will offer free demonstrations on gardening techniques and tips on growing specific flowers and plants. The complete lecture series schedule can be viewed at www.nashvillelawnandgardenshow.com.
