Austin Peay Lady Govs Outdoor Track and Field opens at Coastal Carolina

APSU Sports: Austin Peay Women’s Track and Field

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s track and field team begins the outdoor season at the Coastal Carolina Invite, this weekend, at Doug Shaw Stadium in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Along with the Lady Govs and host Coastal Carolina, more than 45 schools are schedule to participate, including Appalachian State, American, Howard, High Point, Kennesaw State, Slippery Rock, Toledo and Towson.

This will be Austin Peay’s first outdoor meet as well as the first for many of the competing schools. The Lady Govs are coming off a seventh-place finish at the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championships and now are looking to rebound in the outdoor season.

Junior Chantelle Grey will be looking to continue her pace in the 800-meter run, an event she maintained steady improvement in throughout the indoor season. Senior thrower Tanesha Campbell also looks to translate her OVC Indoor Championship in the shot put over to the outdoor season.

Austin Peay will have a large group of sprinters going at Coastal Carolina, led by freshman Erika Adams in the 100-meters and sophomore Cenitra Hudson in the 200-meters. Also in the mix will be senior Candace Johnson and junior Lauren Lyles.

The Lady Govs also will field 4×100-meter relay team of Shannon Christian, Alyx Pinkston, Kelly Colbert and Taelor Slaughter. Joining Campbell in the field events will be pole vaulters Molly Basch and Nichole Bressner.
