The Govs have not played a match in more than week since opening OVC action with wins against Murray State and SIU Edwardsville. Sean Bailey was named the OVC’s Player of the Week after picking up two wins at No. 1 singles. Sophomore Jasmin Ademovic along with freshmen Michal Hriciste and Dimitar Ristovski all opened OVC play at 2-0.
After opening the season with Ademovic at No. 1 singles and Bailey at No. 2, the order has since been switched and both players have responded well. Bailey has won his last four matches at the top singles spot, including a marquee win at No. 42 South Alabama. Ademovic, meanwhile has won three of his last four matches at No. 2 singles.
Eastern Illinois comes into Tuesday’s match with a 1-7 overall record and a 1-1 league mark, it’s only win coming against Tennessee State. The Panthers have struggled with all parts of their lineup, including a 0-7 start by Michael Sperry at No. 1 singles. The bottom two singles’ positions have a combined 2-14 record. The one highlight for Eastern Illinois is a 5-1 OVC mark in doubles.
