Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department and the Downtown Clarksville Association businesses celebrate National Walk in a Park Day

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville’s Parks & Recreation Department along with the Downtown Clarksville Association businesses will walk from the courtesy boat dock at McGregor Park to the North Extension and back, Friday, March 30th, 2012, in celebration of National Walk in a Park Day.

The walk will begin at noon and the public is invited to participate.

“Walking is such good exercise. It’s easily accessible and inexpensive,” said Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan.  “All you have to do is put on a pair of shoes and go.  This is the perfect opportunity to enjoy McGregor Park or any of our fantastic area parks or greenways and begin to walk for your health.  The Mayor’s Fitness Council is proud to support this effort and encourages everyone to take part.”

National Walk in a Park Day encourages the public to visit parks for both exercise and relaxation. Parks are ideal locations due to their level terrain, beautiful scenery, paths and benches.

All those celebrating on this day, be sure to submit your photo of “walking in a park” to the Clarksville Parks & Recreation’s Facebook page for a chance to win a free prize.
