A highly attended meet, the Rebels are expecting a large number of teams to include Alabama, Mississippi State and Memphis from the Southeast region. Despite a number of Lady Govs’ injuries, head coach Doug Molnar is taking a large contingent anticipating top competition.

“This meet will feature the some of the best athletes in the country,” Molnar said. “It’s a great facility and place where you can really run fast. We’ve got some injuries and some players out, but we’re looking for good results.”

Tanesha Campbell [2]Last week’s meet at Vanderbilt became as much of a race against the clock as it was against the weather. Harsh winds and rain increased the level of difficultly, but did not prevent Tanesha Campbell from setting an APSU record in the hammer throw.

Campbell will have to overcome a foot injury sustained during the practice week in order to extend that record and get back on track in the shot put. She’ll be joined by Lora McKnight in the shot put and discus, while Nichole Bressner is slated to throw the hammer.

Chantelle Grey [3]Molnar rested many of his sprinters last week but will put them all back in the fray this week. Taelor Slaughter will make another attempt at the 400-meter hurdles while Lauren Lyles will run the 100-meter hurdles and the 100-meter dash. Cenitra Hudson is scheduled for the 200- and 400-meter runs as well as the triple jump. Lyle also will participate in the high and long jump.

Among the distance events, Chantelle Grey is primed to return to the 800-meter run after setting the APSU season-best mark in the 400-meter dash (55.41) last week at Vanderbilt. Grey, who looks to continue building on a terrific indoor season in the 800-meter race, also will run the 1500-meter event. Kendra Kirksey – the school-record holder in the 3000-meter steeplechase – will be joined by Janelle Avery this week.
