Applications due next week for Nonprofit Organizations seeking City of Clarksville Funding

City of ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – Qualified nonprofit charitable or civic organizations in Clarksville have an opportunity to seek the City’s financial support on a limited basis.  Applications for these funds are due by noon on April 6th, 2012.

“Our communities’ charitable and civic organizations play a vital role in providing assistance to our citizens through a host of programs and projects. I am happy that we are able to offer some funding assistance for organizations that qualify for these funds,” said Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan.

In order to qualify for the funds, each organization must provide the application and:  (1) a letter from the Internal Revenue Service recognizing the organization as holding tax-exempt status and (2) a copy of the most recent organizational financial audit, or in the absence of an audit, the profit and loss statement for the past business year.

After the applications are reviewed for compliance, the qualifying organizations will be asked to appear before the committee to present their funding request and answer any questions about their applications.

The committee members are Councilman David Allen (Chair), Councilwoman Kaye Jones and Councilman Bill Summers.  The Committee will initially determine the amount to be awarded to each applicant. Final approval for each funding award is made by the City Council.
