APSU Sports: Austin Peay Women’s Tennis
Morehead, KY – Austin Peay State University women’s team dropped its regular-season finale, 4-3, at Morehead State, Sunday afternoon.
Senior Vanja Tomic rebounded from Saturday’s loss with a straight-set win at No. 1 singles against Morehead State’s Alix Young.
Tomic ends the regular season with a 7-1 record at No. 1 singles, while Carre finishes at 8-1 in her first trip through the Ohio Valley Conference.
It was a pair of freshmen picking up the Lady Govs other two singles win. Vanessa Tavarez overcame an opening set loss to win the next two and take No. 5 singles. Jovana Karak, meanwhile, split the first two sets and took the third at No. 6 singles.
The Lady Govs end Ohio Valley Conference play with a 5-4 record and will be the No. 4 seed at the upcoming OVC Tennis Tournament, facing No. 5 seed Eastern Illinois, 2:00pm, Friday. Morehead State, meanwhile, is the No. 6 seed, facing No. 3 Murray State, 2:00pm, Friday.
