Fort Campbell Shooting Suspect Dies

Fort Campbell, KY – A Fort Campbell Soldier who was apprehended early Saturday morning following a pursuit by Georgia State Police has died from wounds suffered during an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound sustained at the time of the incident.

Specialist Rico L. Rawls Jr., 22, was pronounced dead at approximately 2:00pm, Monday afternoon.

Rawls Jr. was wanted for questioning in connection with the death of his spouse, Jessica T. Rawls, who was discovered deceased from an apparent gunshot wound Friday evening by Military Police responding to an alleged domestic dispute in on-post housing. «Read the rest of this article»

Detroit, MI – The Nashville Predators played rope-a-dope for the first two periods and then broke out with three goals in the third period to claim a 3-1 win in Game 4 over the Detroit Red Wings and a 3-1 series lead heading back to Nashville for Game 5 on Friday.

Child Abuse Prevention Poster Contest Winners Announced

Entries on display at several Nashville and Clarksville locations through April 30th

Nashville, TN – Kindergarten through eighth grade students attending four Clarksville and Nashville schools created winning entries in the 2012 Child Abuse Prevention Poster Contest sponsored by Catholic Charities of Tennessee. The more than 150 posters entries received illustrated the theme, ““A Happy Family Is…”.

Four Clarksville students won awards for their posters entered in the 2012 Child Abuse Prevention Poster Contest sponsored by Catholic Charities of Tennessee. Alaina Chandler, pictured with her art teacher Nancy Diamond, won first place in the Kindergarten – 2nd grade category. She is a second grade student at Immaculate Conception School.

School Board Selects Dr. B.J. Worthington as Next Director of Schools for Clarksville Montgomery County School System

Montgomery County, TN – On August 1st, Dr. B.J. Worthington will become the twelfth Director of Schools for the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System.

The Clarksville-Montgomery County School Board cast a unanimous vote for Dr. Worthington in special session Tuesday evening. The Board last week vetted and interviewed five candidates, which were recommended by the Tennessee School Boards Association, for consideration.

Dr. B.J. Worthington has been selected as the new Director of Schools for Clarksville Montgomery County School System.

Nashville Sounds, Oklahoma City RedHawks Game Postponed on Tuesday Night

Nashville, TN – Tonight’s scheduled series opener at Greer Stadium between the Nashville Sounds and Oklahoma City RedHawks has been postponed due to rain. The game will be made up as part of a 6:05pm doubleheader on Thursday evening, when the two teams will play a pair of seven-inning games.

City of Clarksville and Montgomery County to hold Public Comment session on Justice Assistance Grant

Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville and Montgomery County intend to submit a joint application for the 2012 Byrne Justice Assistance Grant in the amount of $60,434, with the funds to be shared equally between the County and the City for law enforcement and crime prevention activities.

Any person wishing to make a comment may attend a public comment period Tuesday, April 24th, 2012 at 1:00pm.  This session will be held at City Hall Finance Department, 1 Public Square, Clarksville, Tennessee.
