Entries on display at several Nashville and Clarksville locations through April 30th
Nashville, TN – Kindergarten through eighth grade students attending four Clarksville and Nashville schools created winning entries in the 2012 Child Abuse Prevention Poster Contest sponsored by Catholic Charities of Tennessee. The more than 150 posters entries received illustrated the theme, ““A Happy Family Is…”.
“The poster contest provides teachers and parents with an opportunity to discuss various issues related to child abuse prevention with their children,” said Marie Gilland, Catholic Charities’ child welfare program coordinator. She noted that more than 3.5 million children are reported as victims of abuse or neglect in the U.S. every year.“Community awareness is essential to ending the cycle of violence toward children. This contest serves as a reminder that everyone has a role to play in keeping children safe, supported and loved,” Gilland added.
