Ohio Valley ConferenceReed HarperBrentwood, TN – Austin Peay State University junior shortstop Reed Harper has been named the adidas Ohio Valley Conference Co-Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Harper, of Clarksville (Clarksville HS), led the Govs with a .500 batting average (6-of-12) and six RBI during their 2-1 OVC series victory at Eastern Kentucky last weekend. He began the week with a 1-for-4 outing in non-conference action at Middle Tennessee, Wednesday.

Harper shared the Week 10 honor with Jacksonville State’s Ben Waldrip.

The OVC’s preseason selection at shortstop, Harper opened the series with a three-hit, three-RBI outing that included a double and a home run. He followed that with a hit and an RBI in the series’ second game. Harper wrapped up his stay in Richmond, KY, with two hits and an RBI in the series finale.

It is the second weekly honor for Harper, who also was the league’s Player of the Week after the opening weekend. It is the fourth time an Austin Peay baseball player has earned a weekly honor: first baseman Tyler Childress (Week 7 co-Player of the Week) and closer Tyler Rogers (Week 6 Pitcher of the Week).

Austin Peay returns to action when it travels to Tennessee for a 6:00pm (CT), Wednesday contest at Lindsey Nelson Stadium in Knoxville Tennessee.
