Nashville State Community College in Clarksville Admits 1st Student

Nashville State Community CollegeNashville, TN – On May 1st, 2012, Nashville State Community College officially enrolled its first student at the new campus in Clarksville when Tyreco Nolton completed the admissions process and enrolled in classes which begin on August 25th, 2012.

According to Kathy Ragan, the Nashville State admissions representative at the campus, “Tyreco was very diligent in getting his information to the college in order to start classes this fall. He is clearly excited about beginning his education at Nashville State.”

The expansion of Nashville State to the Clarksville area is one that has been discussed for years and will soon be a reality. Construction to renovate the former Saturn dealership at 1760 Wilma Rudolph Boulevard is underway and on schedule.

Tennessee State Representative Joe Pitts, who has been instrumental in establishing the new campus states “Having a quality two-year community college such as Nashville State affords Clarksville a competitive advantage with regard to recruiting businesses and bringing high-quality jobs to Montgomery County.”

Eileen Crane, Executive Assistant to President George Van Allen at Nashville State, believes the expansion to Clarksville will be beneficial for everyone involved. “The addition of the Clarksville campus will afford us the opportunity to offer both transfer degrees and technical certificates to the citizens of Montgomery and surrounding counties,” states Crane. “For current Nashville State students, it will greatly reduce their commute and provide convenient access to residents interested in beginning their secondary education.”
