APSU Governors Baseball to face Lipscomb Bison and Evansville Purple Aces

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s baseball team will play two midweek contests, hosting Lipscomb in a 6:00pm, Tuesday contest before traveling to Evansville for a 6:00pm, Wednesday outing.

Austin Peay (28-18) has struggled to find consistency since the beginning of April, posting an 11-8 record in that span. The Govs offense has continued to strengthen as the season has progressed, posting 10 or more hits in 15 of those contests.

Shortstop Reed Harper brings a team-best .335 batting average into the two midweek affairs. Four other Govs are batting above .300 with two weeks remaining in the regular season.

Lipscomb (22-25) has won four of its last five contests, including an 11-0 victory against Florida-Gulf Coast in its last outing. Designated hitter Ricky Coleman is leading the Bisons with a .321 batting average this season while first baseman Zak Messer leads the squad in both home runs (10) and RBI (37).

Evansville (27-21) returns to action seeking to bounce back after suffering a three-game non-conference sweep at the hands of Dallas Baptist last weekend. Outfielder Kevin Kaczmarski leads the Purple Aces with a .333 batting average while third baseman Jake Mahon has a team-best 33 RBI.

Austin Peay won its first meeting with Lipscomb, a 12-7 victory on March 20th in Nashville. Left fielder Cody Hudson went 5-for-6 with five RBI in that contest. Evansville downed the Govs by a 7-3 score back on March 14 in a game that saw only five APSU batters record a hit.
