Clarksville, TN – Power was interrupted to approximately 12,000 Clarksville Department of Electricity customers this morning at around 5:30am.
The outage occurred at three CDE substations; Primary, East and Ladd. Areas of town affected were Madison Street, Memorial Drive, Craigmont, Fort Campbell Boulevard, Jack Miller Boulevard, Tobacco Road, Hermitage Estates, 101st Parkway, College Street, Riverside Drive, Commerce Street, Main Street, Public Square, Old Russellville Pike, Candlewood, Grassland, and Willow Bend.
CDE crews found the cause of the outage to be a snake that made contact with electrical equipment inside Primary Substation. The location of the snake inside the substation caused a system protection device to trip, resulting in the disconnection of the power feed to East and Ladd Substations as well. Power was restored to all customers by 8:00am.
CDE provides electric service to approximately 62,000 residential and commercial customers within the city limits of Clarksville.
