I-24 eastbound and westbound will be closed from the I-24/I-65 split north of downtown to the I-24/I-40 split east of downtown beginning Friday May 18th, at 9:00pm. The interstate will open no later than Monday May 21st, at 5:00am.

In addition, Monday May 21st through Wednesday May 23rd, there will be temporary lane closures on Main Street and Woodland Street, from South 5th Street to Interstate Drive, to perform bridge repairs. One lane will remain open in each direction.

*All work is weather dependent.

This is the project’s fourth closure and workers will be removing deteriorated concrete from the bridge decks and setting pre-fabricated deck panels in place. Despite last weekend’s heavy rain, crews were still able to meet their goals and to date have installed 49 of the 277 bridge deck panels. The repairs are part of an $8.7 million project to rehabilitate bridges built in 1961. The project will require the total closure of a section of I-24 for 13 weekends this spring and summer.

This weekend the Goodguys Nashville Nationals car show will attract thousands to LP Field during the three-day event. Motorists trying to access the show car entrance from I-65, I-24 or I-40 should take the Demonbreun Street Exit, then 2nd Avenue, across the Korean Veterans Boulevard. Bridge/Shelby Street, to South Second Street over to LP Field. Anyone trying to access the Swap Meet or Car Corral entrance should exit on Broadway, turn on 4th Avenue, then Union Street/Woodland Street and right onto South 1st Street.

TDOT also asks drivers to use caution, reduce their speed and be alert to changing traffic conditions in work zones across the state.
