Clarksville, TN – The Two Rivers Company (TRC) is Clarksville’s downtown and riverfront revitalization entity.
TRC is about to embark on a physical master planning process that will be spearheaded by the University of Tennessee’s College of Architecture and Design under the leadership of Professor Tom (“TK”) Davis and sponsored by the Two Rivers Company (TRC), the Clarksville-Montgomery County Economic Development Council (EDC), and the City of Clarksville. As part of their urban design class, a group of UT students will be working with the project sponsors to create a plan for the Downtown and adjacent Riverfront over the next several weeks, volunteering nearly 2,000 hours of work at no cost other than their expenses.
These efforts will benefit from TRC’s Market Analysis and Strategy that is now being completed to insure that the physical master plan is grounded firmly in economic realities. The project’s ultimate success will depend greatly upon the active participation of Downtown and Riverfront stakeholders, as well as the general public.
A public workshop for this project will be held on Wednesday, June 6th from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. It will occur in the ballroom of theat 50 College Street.
The UT students and volunteer facilitators will be leading participating members of the public through a series of exercises intended to identify the various challenges and opportunities for revitalization of the district, as well as to generate specific ideas for implementation.
The workshop sponsors are hoping to recruit up to 120 citizens to participate in the Workshop, but space is limited. There are presently 80 spaces available for participation on a first-come first-served basis.
To participate in the June 6th workshop, those interested should contact Mary Sandmel with the Clarksville Mayor’s Office to reserve a space.
