Nashville Sounds get 8-0 win over the New Orleans Zephyrs to end losing streak

 

Vargas, Two Relievers Combine On Six-Hitter

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds snapped a six-game skid with an 8-0 victory over the New Orleans Zephyrs in front of a season-high 10,044 fans on Saturday evening at Greer Stadium.

Right-hander Claudio Vargas (1-0) scattered three hits and struck out six batters over five scoreless innings to pick up his first win for the Sounds. Vinnie Chulk followed with a pair of scoreless frames before Donovan Hand closed out the contest with two scoreless innings of his own.

Tennessee Department of HealthNashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Health is reminding Tennesseans of the need for vaccination against measles. Although measles was officially eliminated from the United States in 2000 as the result of high vaccination rates, it is still present in other regions of the world.

A small number of cases continue to occur among Americans who have traveled abroad or come into contact with someone returning from foreign travel. Tennessee State Parks 75th AnniversaryNashville, TN – A rare sighting of Venus in transit will occur during the late afternoon of Tuesday, June 5th, and Radnor Lake State Park and the Vanderbilt’s Dyer Observatory are partnering to host a special viewing party to observe this unique planetary event.

The actual viewing will be held from 4:00pm to 6:15pm at the Dyer Observatory in Brentwood, in a specially designated area adjacent to Radnor Lake State Park.
