Clarksville-Montgomery County Economic Development Council Hosts Successful Community Tour Event

Clarksville-Montgomery County Economic Development CouncilClarksville, TN – In early June, the Clarksville-Montgomery County Economic Development Council (EDC) hosted a two-day ‘Red Carpet Community Tour’ event for site selection consultants and brokers to gain first-hand knowledge of the assets that Clarksville-Montgomery County and the surrounding area have to offer.

“The annual Red Carpet event is an excellent opportunity for the team at the EDC to engage consultants and brokers who may not be familiar with the available resources in our community,” said Clarksville-Montgomery County EDC President and CEO, James Chavez. “It also serves as a unique way to say thank you by including our partners who make the work of the EDC possible.”

The Aspire Clarksville Foundation funded the community focused initiative. The red carpet was rolled out, figuratively speaking, and consultants were treated to a private tour of Clarksville-Montgomery County. Some of the community resources touted on the tour included available land and infrastructure at the Corporate Business Park, the 40-acre pad ready site, the retail and dining hub off Exit 4, the booming residential areas, Austin Peay State University, the growing and thriving Downtown district and the Clarksville Marina.

The evening before the community tour, VIP guests were treated to an exclusive songwriter reception, featuring Rivers Rutherford, where members of the business community were in attendance. The event took place at Cellar One in Nashville and served as a meet and greet between the guests and leaders of the Clarksville-Montgomery County community, as well as partners at TVA and the State of Tennessee Economic and Community Development (ECD), including TVA VP of Economic Development John Bradley and ECD Commissioner Bill Hagerty.

“This type of event is a valuable and worthwhile way to give guests to our community an opportunity to network in a relaxed environment and enjoy a taste of Southern culture that they may not be used to ,” said Billy Atkins, Chairman and CEO of Legends Bank and a member of the Clarksville-Montgomery County Industrial Development Board (IDB). “As an Aspire investor I endorse opportunities like these, especially when we can use them to sell the Clarksville community with assets, such as the nationally recognized Nashville music scene, that we have right up the road.”

Atkins also added that everyone in attendance, from the State of Tennessee ECD reps to officials from Clarksville-Montgomery County’s new corporate partner, Agero, were appreciative of the time and detail that went into hosting the event. He said that this kind of initiative is one that should be kept on the front burner and used for recruitment efforts in the future.

The two-day Red Carpet event was topped off with tickets to the CMT Awards show that was held at Bridgestone Arena on June 7th.

“Through the generous funding of the Aspire Foundation, the consultants and brokers were able to experience the sites and sounds of the region and take back with them the understanding of the multitude of assets that Clarksville-Montgomery County has to offer an incoming industry,” said Mike Evans, Executive Director of the Clarksville-Montgomery County IDB.
