Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce will hold their annual Clarksville-Montgomery County Economic Growth Summit June 26th

Clarksville Area Chamber of CommerceClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the second annual Clarksville-Montgomery County Growth Summit on June 26th at the Austin Peay State University Morgan Center at 7:30am.

The summit is sponsored by Austin Peay State University and  the APSU College of Business.

“I am extremely pleased for Austin Peay to be a part of the Growth Summit again this year,” said APSU President, Tim Hall. “The quality of the speakers and topics will help to give insight to several pressing issues in today’s economy, from education and transportation to local business development.”

Hall will also serve as a member of the ‘Educating the Workforce of the Future’ panel that will be speaking that morning.  The panel, facilitated by John Watz of Workforce Essentials will also include Eileen Crane, Nashville State Community College; Debbie Griffin, Tennessee Technology Center; Mike Harris,  Clarksville-Montgomery County School System; and Katherine Purnell, Daymar Institute.

This half day event will lay the groundwork for all attending to understand the ever changing economy and issues that will impact our growth. Nationally recognized leaders in economic development will be featured guest speakers and lead discussions that will touch on topics such as global and local economies, strategic planning for the future and what drives business decisions. Montgomery County Mayor Carolyn Bowers and Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan will both welcome guests with opening remarks.

Dennis Cuneo, Former VP with Toyota & Current Managing Partner, Fisher & Phillips, LLP, will serve as the keynote speaker. Dennis currently is an advisor to Toyota, sits on the Boards of two publicly traded companies, is on the advisory boards of two Silicon Valley start ups, and is a senior advisor to a leading automotive advisory firm.  Cuneo will speak on his years of experience in launching successful companies and making strategic site selection decisions.

Also speaking is State of Tennessee Economic & Community Development Assistant Commissioner of Business Development, Kingsley Brock, Fort Campbell Major General, James C. McConville and Executive Director of the Transit Alliance of Middle Tennessee, Ed Cole.

“This opportunity to host the caliber of leaders at this year’s Summit and make them accessible to the community is crucial,” said James Chavez, President and CEO of the Clarksville-Montgomery County Economic Development Council. “With our rapidly changing economic landscape, it is important that business leaders and community members are given the opportunity to learn more about growth and the issues that impact growth within our region.”

Cost for the June 26th Summit is $50.00 for Chamber Members and $100.00 for non-members which includes a networking breakfast as well as the feature speakers. Deadline to register is June 22nd.
