Nashville, TN – It has been an honor to serve as the Tennessee State Representative of the 74th district and today I am declaring my bid for re-election. I will continue to focus on what is important for the people of Humphreys, Houston and the western part of Montgomery County.  Over the past years I have had a strong focus on constituency needs, education, environment and veteran issues.

I was born to two school teachers, my mother a math teacher and father a science and agriculture teacher. After graduating from Castle Heights Military Academy located in Lebanon, Tennessee,  I attended the University of Tennessee – Knoxville were I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. Currently I hold a Professional License and I am also a member of the Caldwell Masonic Lodge.

The best decision I ever made was marrying Charlotte Tyler over 40 years ago. We raised two children, John who is a Jr. High School Principal and Nikki, a Registered Nurse. My son’s wife, Christy is a teacher and they have two beautiful children, Cassie and Trey. All of us are members of the First United Methodist Church.

Having worked for the DuPont Company for 34 years, I am now retired. During my time serving the state and the surrounding communities I have been:  Chairman of the Regional Planning Commission, Vice Mayor of the City of New Johnsonville, Chairman of the Regional Solid Waste Board, member of Humphreys County Commission, Member of the TN General Assembly’s Transportation Committee and Environment and Conservation Committee.

During my time as a public official I was honored to have helped write the alternate budget that was passed instead of the Income Tax budget in 2001. I wrote many of the bills controlling harvesting of timber for the state, sponsored many of the motorcycle and antique auto bills and wrote the stream maintenance bill.

I look forward to serving the people of the 74th district. If you have any questions, concerns or comments, please contact me at 615.741.7098.
