Memphis took a 1-0 lead in the home half of the first against Thornburg. Pete Kozma singled to center, stole second base, and scored on a RBI base hit from Brandon Dickson.

Nashville went ahead at 4-1 in the fifth, beginning with three consecutive hits to lead off the frame. First baseman Jordan Brown doubled, move to third on a single from second baseman Eric Farris, and scored as Maysonet singled to left.

Two batters later, outfielder Caleb Gindl extended his season-best hitting streak to eight games with an RBI double to right center. Patterson then went yard over the right field wall for his sixth long ball of the season.

Memphis trimmed the lead in half in the next frame with two doubles, highlighted by the second hit from Dickson.

The Sounds added two insurance runs in the next inning to lead 6-2. Outfielder Jay Gibbons reached on a fielding error by Kozma and scored on the next play as catcher Jason Jaramillo knocked an RBI double to left. Two batters later, Farris hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Jaramillo.

The Redbirds cut the lead to two runs in the bottom of the eighth against reliever Robert Wooten. With runners on second and third and two outs, Steven Hill hit a two-run single to center field.

Donovan Hand tossed two scoreless innings to extend his scoreless streak to 19.0 straight innings over his last 11 outings. Wooten surrendered two runs on 2/3 of an inning. Jim Henderson converted the four-out save to end the game for his team-leading ninth of the season.

Memphis starter Brandon Dickson (4-8) scattered eight hits for six runs (four earned) in 5 2/3 innings. The Redbirds pitcher also went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs.
