Clarksville Department of Electricity reports second round of Storms cause additional Power Outages

Clarksville Department of ElectricityClarksville, TN – A round of storms that moved through Clarksville yesterday afternoon caused power outages that affected approximately 3,000 CDE customers. Crews were still working to restore power to some 50 customers who had been without power since the Wednesday afternoon storms that affected over 7,000 customers.

As of 8:00am this morning, approximately 1,000 CDE customers were still without power.

The primary cause of the outages is trees that have fallen on power lines. Many of the trees are very large and require a significant amount of time to remove before the lines can be re-energized. Early in the restoration process, power is restored to large amounts of customers at one time by repairing main feeder lines.

Once main feeder lines are restored, crews move to secondary lines in individual neighborhoods. Repairing these lines require the same of amount of work, but typically only restore power to a small amount of customers at one time.

CDE contract crews, as well as crews from Dickson, Murfreesboro and Gallatin are assisting in the restoration efforts. “We greatly appreciate the assistance from our neighboring utilities,” said Brian Taylor, CDE Interim Superintendent. “We also appreciate the patience of our customers as we work to get power restored to everyone in a safe manner as quickly as possible.”

Areas currently affected include Craigmont, Georgetown Road, Greenwood Avenue, Gracey Avenue, Edmondson Ferry Road, Cedarcroft, West Park Drive, Allenwood Drive, Chickasaw Drive, Delmar Drive, Liberty Parkway, McGraw Street, State Street, and Dewitt Drive. Scattered outages have also been reported in other areas.

If you see trees on lines or power lines down, please stay away and report them to CDE at 931.648.8151.
