City of Clarksville Lifts Burn Ban

City of ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan announces that the burn ban issued by the City of Clarksville is lifted.

“A couple of weeks ago, there really was no choice. The weather was so hot and dry that almost any spark was dangerous. Fortunately, as you all know, the weather has been cooperating over the past couple of days and we can now lift the burn ban,” said Mayor McMillan.

The City’s ban applied to open burning such as brush fires and small fires set to clear land in developments and building. The ban in effect for charcoal grills was issued by the State and County and this action by the City does not apply to those restrictions.

“We are still encouraging everyone to be vigilant about fire safety and prevention,” said Fire Chief Michael Roberts. “The rain and cooler temperatures have certainly helped but we still need to be extremely careful with controlled fires in the outdoors. I hope we don’t have to issue another ban in the near future but that will depend on the weather and climate.”

“I want to thank everyone for their cooperation and patience. I think everyone in Clarksville understood what a dangerous situation we were in and the need to make sure we were doing all we could to keep Clarksvillians safe,” said Mayor McMillan.
