Johnson County beat Montgomery Central 8-2 Sunday night in the State Junior (13-14) Baseball TournamentClarksville National Little League is hosting the 2012 State Junior (13-14) Baseball Tournament
In the bottom of the 4th, Johnson County loaded the bases with no outs. Brandon Vannoy then hit a double scoring two. This opened things up for Johnson County as they went on to score five more runs in the inning. ![]() Johnson County defeated Montgomery Central Sunday night in Little League (13-14) State Tournament action. Brandon Vannoy was the winning pitcher for Johnson County. He also had a double and 2 RBIs. Payton Fenner went 2-3 with 1 RBI and Justin Pardue went 2-4 for Johnson County. For Montgomery Central, Jordon Nelson was 2-3 with 1 RBI, Austin Lane was 2-4 with one double and Robert Burrows was 2-4. Matthew Cornett, Johnson County’s head coach said “Our guys did a pretty good job out there today. They came out ready to play and focused on the task at hand. Everyone knew it was win or go home.” Johnson County opened things up in the 4th. “I think our boys got the pitchers timing down in the 4th inning. We also started to get on the slow stuff. Brandon Vannoy got us that double that really got things going. That was some of the best hitting we’ve done all year,” said Cornett. Brandon Vannoy’s pitching held Central in check and his double in the 4th was key to Johnson County’s 7 run ralley. “Brandon knew what was on the line tonight. He was focused and determined not to go home,” stated Cornett. “That was the best pitching I’ve seen him do all year.” Cornett went on to say, “Montgomery Central played us tough. They had good hitting and defense. We just got an opportunity in the 4th with bases loaded and our guys came through when they needed to.” With the win, Johnson County moves on to play Clarksville Northwest Monday, July 23rd at 8:00pm In earlier Tournament action, Goodlettsville defeated Grainger County 10-0. Goodlettsville will now face Greenville Tuesday, July 24th at 8:00pm. Grainger County will play Memphis Monday, July 23rd at 6:00pm.
