Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Jordan Brown’s two-out RBI double in the bottom of the ninth inning gave the Nashville Sounds a come-from-behind 3-2 victory over the Tacoma Rainiers on Tuesday evening at Greer Stadium in the opener of a four-game series.

Brown’s game-winning knock, which plated Eric Farris from second and came against reliever Bobby LaFromboise (4-2), completed a three-run rally for Nashville, which trailed 2-0 entering the bottom of the seventh. It was the Sounds’ 21st last at-bat victory of the year and their 13th win when trailing in the seventh inning or later.

Carmel Elementary School Community Open House August 19th

Clarksville Arts and Heritage Development Council accepting Arwork Submissions for 2013 Cultural Calendar

Northwest High School renovation project vote tonight

 

The Clarksville-Montgomery County School SystemMontgomery County, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Board of Education will vote on the $15.4 million construction resolution for the proposed renovation of Northwest High School at its 7:00pm meeting tonight.

The high school opened in the fall of 1970 and the project will include significant upgrades, with a focus on safety and security.

The game will be televised regionally on the Titans Preseason TV Network, including flagship WKRN-Channel 2 in Nashville. Cory Curtis will handle play-by-play duties, while former Titans running back Eddie George and former Titans linebacker Keith Bulluck will provide analysis. Austin Peay State University breaks ground on New Math and Computer Science Building August 17th

 

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Earlier this year, a narrow brick house off Ford Street, behind the Austin Peay State University Hemlock Semiconductor Building, was torn down. All that remains in its absence is a dirt lot, with a few patches of grass and gravel covering it.

At 10:00am on August 17th, shovels will plunge into that dry earth to mark the beginning of construction on APSU’s new $6.7 million mathematics and computer science building. The two-story classroom building, designed by Rufus Johnson Associates, is projected to open in the spring of 2014.

Riverfest Lighted Boat Parade

 

RiverFest 2012Clarksville, TN – On Saturday night, September 8th, sit back and watch as the Cumberland River is illuminated in a majestic display of floating lights during the 5th Annual Riverfest Lighted Boat Parade. Don’t want to just be a bystander in the show? Enter your boat in the festivities and you may even come home with an award!

Judging will take place at the McGregor Park courtesy boat dock. Locations throughout McGregor Park during the Riverfest Celebration will offer public viewing. In the event of inclement weather, boats will be judged at the Montgomery County Conservation Club and boats will not be expected to travel the parade route. Award results will be announced onstage after the completion of the parade.

Clarksville Gas and Water reports Idaho Springs Road Closure

Clarksville Gas and Water DepartmentClarksville, TN – Clarksville Gas and Water has closed Idaho Springs Road to traffic from Front Street to Hay Market Road to install a fire hydrant. Work is expected to be complete by 12:00pm.

Construction crews will detour traffic to Front Street or Dunbar Dell Road.

The Week of the Eagles Car Show draws in auto enthusiasts of all ages

 

Fort Campbell's Week of the EaglesFort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – On Sunday, August 12th the Fort Campbell Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation held the free Week of the Eagles 2012 Car Show at the Post Exchange parking lot from 4:00pm-8:00pm.

There were six classes of cars competing for prizes: Classic, muscle, patriotic, customized, imported, and 4×4 truck. Trophies were awarded for the top three in each class; best in show; and fan favorite.
