CIA Director and former Eagle 6 Retired General David Petraeus returns to Fort Campbell August 17th

David Petraeus, current director of the Central Intelligence Agency and a former commander of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), will attend the retirement of Command Sgt. Maj. Marvin Hill, who served as the division command sergeant major during Petraeus’s tenure with the 101st, and the Division Review here, Friday, August 17th, capping off Week of the Eagles 2012: A History of Valor.

Command Sgt. Maj. Hill’s retirement ceremony will take place at the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) Headquarters here, August 17th at 8:00am. Following the ceremony, Maj. Gen. James C. McConville, commanding general of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and distinguished guests will head to the Division Parade Field to inspect troops during the Division Review at 10:00am.

In 2003, then-Maj. Gen. Petraeus led the 101st Airborne Division into Iraq during the first months of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Command Sgt. Maj. Hill served as the division’s senior non-commissioned officer during this time. Gen. (ret.) Petraeus would go on to lead Central Command and Multi-National Forces-Afghanistan before retiring from the U.S. Army in 2011. In September 2011, Petraeus became director of the CIA.
