Nashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds benefitted from two throwing errors from pitcher Brian Moran in the bottom of the 10th inning to win 3-2 over the Tacoma Rainiers on Thursday night at Greer Stadium.
Schafer began the frame with an opposite-field single and moved to second on a pickoff attempt. Second baseman Eric Farris then hit a sacrifice bunt, which was then under thrown to first that allowed Schafer to score the winning-run.

Washington, DC – The latest U.S. Drought Monitor, dated August 14th, indicates that some drought-affected areas of the United States have begun to turn the corner with respect to the historic drought of 2012.
During the seven-day period ending August 14th, conterminous U.S. drought coverage fell to 61.8%, down from a July 24th peak of 63.9%. Continental U.S. coverage of extreme to exceptional drought (D3 to D4), the two worst drought categories, dipped to 23.7%, less than one-half of a percentage point below last week’s peak.
Clarksville, TN – On August 15th, 2012, around 5:45pm Clarksville Police reports there was a fatality crash on the 101st Division Parkway and Ringgold Road. There were three cars involved in the crash.
A 2011 GMC Arcadia driven by Alonso Tovar, 41, was traveling east on 101st, and attempted to make a left turn onto Ringgold Road, but failed to yield to a westbound 98 Honda Accord driven by Dae Kang, 64. «Read the rest of this article»
Fort Campbell, KY – The winners of the Toughest Air Assault Soldier Competition, held here today, are 1st Lt. Jackson Wittkamper and 2nd Lt. Samuel Wilkins, both infantry platoon leaders with 2nd Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division.
The Toughest Air Assault Soldier Competition is one of many events held during Week of the Eagles. Thirty three teams entered the competition which featured a 12-mile foot march, obstacle course, written test, sling load test, and rappelling. This year’s Week of the Eagles celebrates the 70th anniversary of the 101st Airborne Division.

Fort Campbell, KY – Basketball is just one of the 14-events that took place during the Week of the Eagles, 2012. The Strike team, made up of Soldiers from the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), has provided much excitement during the basketball tournament.
This inter-division 3-day competition, held at Fort Campbell’s Lozada gym began August 13th. The Strike team gave fans that came out to support more than their money’s worth.
The first game for the Strike Team seemed like an easy one. It started with tough defense, which was the focal point for the team during the competition.

Fort Campbell, KY – This year, for the first time in the Screaming Eagle’s history, the game of Ultimate Frisbee is a part of the Week of the Eagles competition. The Week of the Eagles is celebrated each year to honor the activation of the 101st Airborne Division in 1942. This year is the division’s 70th anniversary.
Many ask, what is Ultimate Frisbee and the answer is quite long. The game of Ultimate Frisbee is like soccer mixed with football, mixed with hockey. It’s played with a seven-person team, on a 100-yard field with two 10-yard end zones. There is a “throw-off” down the field, after which the offense begins passing the disk.
Clarksville, TN – On August 15, 2012, around 8:30pm, Clarksville Police responded to the Kangaroo Express, 3300 Pembroke Road, after a man was stabbed with a knife described as a “Bowie Knife”. The stabbing occurred inside of a residence at 3414 Pembroke Road.
According to witnesses, friends were gathered at the residence for a dinner together. During the course of the evening, Jonathan Troy Hargadine, 49, and Jason Bennett, 20, engaged in a friendly wrestling match in which Hargadine was deemed the “loser”.
