Hands on Clarkville’s “911 Serve to Remember: Days of Service” September 1st-11th

Hands On ClarksvilleClarksville, TN– Clarksville is proud to be a part of the Corporation for National and Community Service 2012 September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance.  There is no day in history that has the same power to unite us in service like 9/11.

Be a part of this remarkable initiative to honor 9/11 victims, survivors and those who rose up in service in response the attacks by volunteering in your community. Volunteers and volunteer leaders are needed to help with various local service activities.

Hands on Clarksville’s  “9/11 Serve to Remember: Days of Service” challenges citizens of all ages and walks of life to join us from September 1st-11th, 2012 as our community once again honors the memory and expresses our appreciation to those who serve, with our service.

The Corporation for National and Community Service is a federal agency that engages more than five million Americans in service through its Senior Corps, AmeriCorps, and Learn and Serve America programs, and leads President Obama’s national call to service initiative, United We Serve.

The 2012 “9/11 Serve to Remember: Days of Service” project is being organized and led by Hands on Clarksville (HOC), a program of Hands on Nashville. Hands on Clarksville meets needs directly in our community through volunteerism, and by mobilizing, promoting, developing, implementing and evaluating meaningful volunteer opportunities.

HOC’s goal is to engage a minimum of 600 volunteers in various service activities from September 1st-11th, 2012. A variety of service opportunities will be available throughout the week, ensuring community volunteers of all ages, ethnicities, and abilities have the chance to give back throughout the Clarksville-Montgomery County and Fort Campbell communities.
