Fort Campbell’s Outdoor Recreation Adventure Programs for September

Morale, Welfare and RecreationFort Campbell, KY – It may be September but Outdoor Recreation is still planning some great activities for you!

It starts on September 8th with a Kings Bluff Climbing Trip from 9:00am until 3:00pm. Did you know that Clarksville has some of the best climbing in Middle Tennessee?  Join Outdoor Rec as they venture to Kings Bluff, a scenic 2 mile crag located just 15 minutes from post.

Transportation and equipment will be provided. Ages 12 and up are invited to participate and the cost is $35.00 per person. Please bring appropriate clothing, water, snacks, and a packed lunch. This trip is geared towards beginners so all are welcome!  Preregistration is required by 4:00pm on September 6th.

Women in the Wilderness

Women in the Wilderness is a program designed for women to enjoy outdoor sports and learn new skills as well as meet like-minded women who want to live a healthy, outdoor lifestyle.  On September 11th, Outdoor Rec will be offering an Introduction to Archery session for their Women in the Wilderness Program. The cost is $10.00 and it will run from 5:00pm until 8:00pm.

Preregistration is required by 4:00pm on September 9th.

Couple’s Communication Climbing

Are you looking for something new and different to do with your sweetie?  Join Outdoor Recreation for a Couples’ Communication Climbing Trip on September 15th from 9:00am until 3:00pm. Ages 18 and up are invited to sign up for this climbing trip to Kings Bluff.  The cost is only $55.00 per couple. Transportation and all equipment will be provided.  This trip is geared towards beginners so all skill levels are welcome.

Preregistration is required by 4:00pm on September 13th.

Canoe Trip

Take the Family for some fun on September 15th as Outdoor Recreation holds a Duck River Family Canoe Trip. Ages 6 and up may participate and the cost is $25.00 per person. You’ll leave at 8:00am and return at 6:00pm. Transportation and equipment will be be provided.

The Duck River is the largest self contained river in the state of Tennessee. It stretches over 250 miles before running into the Tennessee River. The river passes through some of Tennessee’s most scenic pastoral lands as well as beautiful rock bluffs, caves, bottomland forests and the Yanahli Wilderness Area.

The breathtaking scenery and Family friendly waters makes this a perfect location for a Family float trip.  This 5.5 mile stretch of water will give participants the opportunity to enjoy the river and the picturesque views while paddling canoes.

Preregistration is required by 4:00pm on September 13th.

Chickasaw Trace Mountain Biking

On September 16th, you can join Outdoor Recreation for a Chickasaw Trace Mountain Biking trip.  This trip is scheduled to last from 8:00am until 4:00pm. Ages 14 and up are invited to participate. The cost is $19.00 per person with transportation, helmets and bikes provided.

Chickasaw Trace is a small 300 acre park, bordering the Duck River just southwest of Nashville. It may be small but this park offers some of the best mountain biking in Middle Tennessee. It has something to offer cyclists of all levels of experience.  Don’t forget to bring food, water, and closed toe shoes.

Preregistration is required by 4:00pm on September 14th.

Hiking

Spend your day hiking and playing on this rock garden playground. Ages 8 and up may take a Garden of the Gods Day Hike with Outdoor Recreation on September 22nd from 8:00am until 5:00pm.  The cost is $19.00 per person.

Located in Southern Illinois’ Shawnee National Forest, Garden of the Gods recreation area is a spectacular hiking destination. You will be hiking the Indian Point Trail and the Observation Trail. Don’t forget your hiking boots and camera!

Preregistration is required by 4:00pm on September 20th.

Ocoee Rafting Trip

Outdoor Recreation Adventure Program will be taking a group for Ocoee Rafting on September 29 from 6:00am until 10:00pm. The cost is $85.00 per person and you must be at least 14 years of age to participate.

Located in Southeastern Tennessee, the Ocoee River is one of the gems in the whitewater industry. You will paddle a 5 plus mile stretch of water with rapids ranging from class III to IV. All rafting equipment is provided. Please bring secure shoes (no flip flops), lunch and extra money for souvenirs or dinner on the ride home.

Preregistration is required by 4:00pm on September 18th.
