Richards finished the women’s 5K event in 20:14.00s, placing her 35th to begin the season. That gives 12th top-40 finishes in her Lady Govs career.
Junior Kendra Kirksey placed 62nd with a 20:56.28s finish, while junior Chantelle Grey was 90th at 21:44.44s. Junior Miranda Weed (104th, 22:04.09s) and senior Alyssa Molnar (128th, 23:04.89s) rounded out the top five for the Lady Govs.
“The course was extremely muddy,” said head coach Doug Molnar. “We tried to go out at a decent pace and pick people off. We didn’t handle that situation well.”
The Lady Govs will compete next at Friday’s Powerade Invitational, hosted by Chattanooga.
